Decatur, IL – Millikin women's volleyball split day two of the Millikin Invite in Griswold Center, starting the day facing the Franklin College Grizzlies and closing the tournament against the Stars of Dominican University.
The Big Blue and Grizzlies went back and forth through three sets with 14 ties and eight lead changes, but Millikin was never able to take the lead, dropping three straight sets 26-24, 26-24 and 25-21.
To end the tournament on a high note, the Big Blue brought the energy to sweep Dominican in three (25-12, 25-21, 25-12).
Gabriella Ricci came out with a strong arm on .750 hitting, marking six kills on nine swings with no errors. Porter distributed the ball well once again with 11 assists, eight digs and five aces, leading the Big Blue in all three categories.
Millikin improves to 8-5 on the season as they enter conference play. The Big Blue open CCIW play at North Central College on Wednesday, September 23 at 7 p.m., also on the CCIW Network.
