WAVERLY, Iowa — The Indiana University Northwest cross country teams competed in a deep regional field Saturday at the Dan Huston Invite, hosted by Wartburg College at the Max Cross Country Course, with the RedHawks women placing 14th of 21 teams and the men finishing 18th of 18.
Junior Katie Plopper again led the RedHawks women, finishing 37th overall in the 6K in 24:01.4. Senior Nora Loebbert followed in 78th place, running a personal-record 25:20.1 that moved her into the program's all-time top 10. Freshman Sierra Grant placed 133rd in 27:41.4.

On the men's side, freshman Eli Tyrpin paced IU Northwest over the 8K course, placing 161st in a personal-record 29:06.3 that also moved him into the program's all-time top 10. Alec McDonald followed in 225th with a PR of 31:42.5, and Owen Tyrpin posted a personal-best 32:57.7 for 240th. Jordan Warnell placed 259th in 41:31.1, and Chris Kotul rounded out the RedHawks' men's lineup in 261st at 45:50.6.
The trip to Waverly also marked the start of Student-Athlete Mental Health Week for IU Northwest athletics, with the cross country programs kicking off the week of awareness and support on the road. Green, the color associated with mental health and Halinski's Hope, will be spotted throughout the week, with the RedHawks wearing green in honor of the cause.
IU Northwest will look to build on Saturday's personal-best performances when the RedHawks return to action Oct. 16 at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois.
