Applications are now open for students to participate in CobraVenture at Parkland College.
This student-entrepreneur opportunity is for current Parkland College students who aspire to start their own business while still enrolled in college. Students can be part of any academic program and must be taking at least 3 credit hours in the spring semester to participate.
The cohort model provides for a close-knit group to embark on the business process together through a series of workshops on topics important to jumpstarting their businesses. Led by CobraVenture Director Ashley M. Davis, associate professor of business, workshop topics are presented by Parkland faculty, business leaders, and alumni.
"I'm thrilled to be entering the eighth year of CobraVenture as director," Davis said. "I encourage all interested students to apply for this tremendous opportunity. CobraVenture is a dedicated time of focused entrepreneurial exposure for students, and the business leaders we are partnering with are excited to share their knowledge and experiences with our students."
There is no cost for students to participate. While they do not receive academic credit for participation, they learn real-world skills to be used in their entrepreneurial endeavors. Students can earn "seed-money" awards up to $3,000, donated by local entrepreneurs, for their business through participation in the CobraVenture Pitch Showcase in May 2027.
The cohort begins in January 2027. Workshops will be held on Thursday evenings during the spring semester.
CobraVenture is a collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Workforce Innovation, Parkland College Community Education, and the Parkland College Foundation.
