CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is unveiling Illinois Leads, a strategic plan to set the course for the future of the state’s flagship public-serving university.
Illinois Leads was developed after an extensive listening effort with students, faculty, staff, alumni, community leaders and industry partners to identify strategic priorities that will have local, state, national and global impact to fulfill the university’s mission in learning, discovery, engagement and economic development.
“Through the Illinois Leads strategic plan, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has carefully considered how we can better serve our current university community, the state of Illinois and the entire world,” said Illinois Chancellor Charles L. Isbell Jr. “This plan goes beyond thinking about today by thinking about leaving the university and society stronger for the people who come next. That’s part of what it means to be a good ancestor.”
Highlights of the plan include providing accessible and enriching educational experiences; creating opportunities for lifelong learning; developing a more nimble and adaptable workforce; improving upon strengths in research to understand and answer some of society’s most pressing challenges; enhancing and developing partnerships that can have real societal impact; and improving administrative processes to allow for better collaboration.
