Bazaar benefits kids, library

  • 0

EL PASO -- A "kiddie bazaar" to raise money for the El Paso Public Library will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at South Pointe Park Community Center, 525 S. Sycamore St.

Elves will be available in the kids' shopping area to help shop and wrap gifts. Additional activities include an adults-only stocking stuffer area, Friends of the Library winter basket silent auction, American Girl doll raffle and cookie bake sale.

All proceeds will benefit the expansion of the 1906 Carnegie library and its ground-level accessibility fund.

Last year, more than 2,212 items were available at the bazaar, with kids' items priced from $1 to $4. Many are the handiwork of Sue Rickey, who used to take her kids to a similar event once hosted by another group.

"I would love to see more people come out and support the kiddie bazaar this year," said Rickey. "It is for our kids and it is something they will remember forever."
