Flying Aces end season with a loss

BLOOMINGTON — The Central Illinois Flying Aces outshot Cedar Rapids, 28-27, but the RoughRiders made three of their shots count in handing the Aces a 3-0 loss in Central Illinois' season finale on Saturday at Grossinger Motors Arena.

The Aces' season ended with a 24-33-3-2 record. Cedar Rapids will continue play in the United States Hockey League playoffs after improving to 36-21-3-2.

The RoughRiders scored a single goal in each period with Central Illinois goalkeeper Ryan Snowden taking the loss in the net. Snowden was credited with 24 saves.

Each team was 0-of-2 in power play opportunities. Cedar Rapids was penalized three times for six minutes. The Aces were hit with a pair of 10-minute misconduct penalties in the final period and ended with five infractions for 26 minutes.
