  • 0

Question: Towanda is an Indian word that is so popular in McLean County that not only is it a town but also the name of two highly traveled roads — Towanda Avenue and Towanda-Barnes Road. Why is so much named after Towanda?

Answer: Mainly because Towanda, Pennsylvania, was the hometown of Jesse Fell, the founder of much of this area.
