Flick Fact: Bloomington’s highly popular but fully unknown building?

  • 0

Question: One of the most frequently used public buildings in Bloomington-Normal is perhaps also its least known. Do you know what building was dedicated as the Leslie Arends Federal Building in Bloomington?

Answer: It’s the post office along East Empire Street near Eastland Mall. That’s its official name, dedicated for a Melvin man who served 20 terms in the U.S. Congress and was Republican whip for 30 years. Les Arends died in 1985.
