NORMAL — Albert Evan Ford, 86, Normal, passed away Monday (Sept. 16, 2019) at his residence surrounded by family.
Cremation rites have been accorded with East Lawn Funeral Home. There will be a private graveside service at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
He was born Dec. 15, 1932, to Everett and Inez (McGinnis) Ford in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He met the love of his life when he was 15 and she was 13. He married Dixie Meyer on June 6, 1953, in Blue Earth, Minn. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, LeeAnne (Gene) Bratcher, Bloomington; and Laurie (Viston) Batey, Peoria; two grandchildren, Stacey (George) Goeke, Normal; and Jason Bratcher, Bloomington; two great-grandchildren, Jaiden Goeke and Jack Goeke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly Mortenson.
Albert graduated from Fort Dodge High in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1956 with rank of staff sergeant.
He attended the State University of Iowa, graduating in 1963 with a degree in electrical engineering. He started work at General Electric in Bloomington as an electrical engineer in 1963 until his retirement in 1995.
He enjoyed collecting coins, model cars and model trains. His biggest joy was his family. He will be deeply missed.
Memorials may be made in Albert's name to OSF Hospice. The family would like to thank OSF Hospice, Dr. Gomez, and Dr. Halperin for their wonderful care.
