Give library contract to local firm

  • 0

The Bloomington library has a tie vote, again. Seems to me, all things being equal, the job must go to the local bidder. Let’s keep jobs and dollars in the city and county.

Keep reading about the current governor. He may be the one holding up progress. Anyone who disagrees with him is corrupt or should shoulder the blame. Wonder if he has ever heard of the word "compromise"? And then there are these “working groups.” Surely the media can do a FOIA request to determine who is on these groups and what they are planning. The citizens of Illinois have a right to transparent government.

Kudos to the Bloomington City Council. Seems to me, with the rare exception, there seems to be more harmony and a working togetherness that has been absent in the past. The mayor has set time the Friday before a council meeting for the public to voice concerns and opinions.

Kudos to those protecting us. The BPD and BFD do a tremendous job in their respective jobs. As with any work environment, there might be one bad apple but Bloomington works to avoid this and to assure all on each force are as professional as possible. The BPD chief holds citizen meetings every so often to keep the information flowing.
