Congratulations to the Pantagraph for Monday's front-page article on Kevin Schaefer's difficulties with Medicare ("Friends come to aid of paralyzed businessman in Medicare dispute").
Hopefully, you have helped in his effort to cut through the Medicare bureaucracy, so that Kevin can get the up front answers he deserves in his efforts to obtain a medically necessary power wheelchair with a "standing function."
It is certainly time to change the rules that shut off most government help to one with a disability who has found a way, through courage and drive, to become a very productive member of society.
Kevin Schaefer is a shining example of what one can accomplish despite a disability.
Our legal publishing company began utilizing Kevin's company, Ctech Computing, as our computer resource several years ago. Over the years, without fail, Kevin, his wife Becca, and their staff have always been there for us in a very professional manner, whether it was for a complex task such as developing a Web-based searchable database or simply helping us out on a variety of issues from time to time.
Please support Kevin in his effort to obtain the needed new wheelchair by supporting the fundraiser to be held this Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. at St. Luke Union Church in Bloomington.
