WEST PEORIA — Ralph A. Gorman, 81, of West Peoria died at 8:19 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 1, 2006) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

His funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Henderson officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday 3 to 7 p.m. at the church and one-hour before services. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum; Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial to his church or The Children's Hospital of Illinois.

Born Nov. 22, 1924, in Peoria, to William and Bridget Deady Gorman, he married Ellen C. Kelly on Sept. 27, 1947 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are six daughters: Kathleen (Thomas) McNamara of Savannah, GA., Susan (Mark) Slover of Plainfield, Mary (Douglas) Whitaker of Bloomington, Jean (Gregory) Bachler of Peoria, JoCele (David) Williams of Germantown Hills, and Ellen (Drew) Cassidy of Peoria; three sons: Stephen (Margaret) of Chicago, Richard (Cynthia) of Rockford and Michael (Alice) of Peoria; 37 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

One sister, Rosemary Dunne, and one brother, Richard Gorman, preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Spalding High School in 1942. He was a brick mason with the Bricklayers Union # 3 for 60 years.

He enjoyed his retirement as a part-time bartender at Gorman's Pub and spending his winters in Savannah, Ga. He loved to golf and to root for the Chicago Cubs.

Ralph was an honest and hardworking man who was happiest when surrounded by his family. He will be forever in our hearts.
