GRIDLEY — Judith Kay “Judy” Peifer, 73, of Gridley, passed away at 2:41 a.m. Friday (April 21, 2017) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
She was born July 8, 1943, in Gridley, a daughter of Edward and Helen Underwood Hussemann. She married Charles “Chuck” Peifer on May 8, 1967, in Bloomington. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Art (Jennifer) Peifer, Towanda; Kayleen (Troy) Peifer-Dambold, Gridley; two grandchildren, Trace and Logan Peifer; one sister-in-law, Diane Hussemann, Florida; and two nephews, Ryan and Adam Hussemann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Donna Metz; one brother, Edwin Hussemann; and one infant brother, Dwane Hussemann.
Judy worked at Gridley Dental for over 50 years. She was the office manager but helped in many other ways. Judy was a very compassionate person. She would send out cards for various occasions to friends and family and she loved take her drives looking for deer. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and watching sports. In her early years, she loved to fish. She helped volunteer at blood drives for the American Red Cross and helped various people with their finances and accounting. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Community Church, Gridley. Pastor Grant Stauter will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Christ Community Church, Gridley. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.
Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, is assisting the family with arrangements.
