Frederick Raymond Robb

BLOOMINGTON — Frederick Raymond Robb, 88, of Bloomington, passed away March 19, 2017, at his son’s house in Farmer City.

Frederick was born June 23, 1928, in Peoria, the son of Frederick and Elizabeth Schmidgall Robb. He married Linda McCue on June 11, 1949. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are their children, Frederick N. Robb, Bloomington; Stanley (Paula) Robb, Stanford; Jeffrey (Connie) Robb, Farmer City; John (Candi) Robb, Morton; Teresa (Ervin) McClure, Shirley; and Debra (Kelley) Maxwell, Morton; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Mary Kathleen Grimm and Douglas Lynn Robb; a sister, Dorothy Athens; a grandson, Bryan Robb; and a great-grandson, Joseph Robb.

Frederick was the fire chief for Dale Township for 37 years and was on the fire department for over 51 years. He was also the Dale Township supervisor for 34 years. He was the 4-H leader for Shirley Hot Shots for over 30 years and was Farm Bureau board member and McLean County Fair board member. He belonged to the Rural Married Club. He also loved to go camping and farmed for 41 years. After retiring, he worked at Evergreen F.S. He was also a member of the First Christian Church in Bloomington. Always ready with a chocolate treat, he loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Bloomington. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Memorial contributions may be made to Dale Township Fire Department, 8051 E. 1100 North Road, Bloomington, IL 61705, or to First Christian Church, 401 W. Jefferson St., Bloomington, IL 61701.
