HOPEDALE — Eileen Britton, 97, of Hopedale, passed away Friday (March 17, 2017) at Hopedale Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Hopedale, to Edward and Ella Morrissey Ford. She married David W. Britton on Nov. 25, 1943, in Delavan. He passed away Jan. 19, 2003.
Surviving are four daughters, Janet (Victor) Maynard, Minier; Maureen (Ronnie) Wilson, Sharon (Lindon) Lacefield, and Joyce Myers, all of Hopedale; nine grandchildren, Brian Maynard, Craig (Lisa) Maynard, Erika (Tom) Fairburn, Melissa (Jammie) Hill, Amanda (Rich) Alford, Justin Lacefield, Brandon (Ruthie) Myers, Calvin (Sydni) Myers, and Austin (Katie) Myers; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Rose, McLean, and Lois Ford, Hopedale; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ben Ford.
Eileen taught elementary school in the Tremont and Hopedale area for over 30 years.
She and her husband raised Shetlands, Hackneys, and miniature horses. She was an avid reader.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hopedale, where a funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Msgr. Timothy Nolan will officiate. A rosary service will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home, Hopedale, followed by visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Orndorff Cemetery, Hopedale.
