April 12, 1912: Property owners along Clinton Street have petitioned the city to pave it from Jefferson to Chestnut Streets. This has been a long time coming. The city engineer will investigate and report back to the board of local improvements before any decision is made.

April 12, 1937: Mikey the singing rodent has won the national championship on NBC radio. He is owned by Gilbert Brown of Bloomington. Mikey outwarbled and outtwittered 15 other mice from around the county. Walt Disney was one of the judges, listening in from California.

April 12, 1962: WGLT will debut April 24 as a closed circuit station on the ISNU campus. The call letters mean "we gladly learn and teach", suggested by student Robert Birge of Marion. The student-run station will broadcast seven hours a day, six days a week.

April 12, 1987: Vandals damaged ten vehicles around town: eight on the east side and two on the west. Broken windows, windshields, and side view mirrors appeared on most police reports. Many victims reported hearing loud crashes about 3 a.m.
