BLOOMINGTON — A Varna woman pleaded not guilty Friday to harassing Richard Rountree when he was a potential witness in a murder trial.

Victoria Baker, 31, is charged with witness harassment, accused of communicating directly with Rountree with “the intent to harass or annoy” him in such a manner “as to produce mental anguish or emotional distress,” according to court documents.

Rountree, who has since been arrested and charged with child endangerment, was listed as a potential witness when Baker’s sister, Cynthia Baker, was on trial in the death of Rountree’s 8-year-old daughter Rica. He was never called to testify in court.

The date of the Victoria Baker’s alleged offense was during the trial before the defense presented its case on Nov. 18.

Her next court date was set for Feb. 25 with Judge Scott Drazewski. She will be represented by defense attorney Stephanie Wong.
