One dead after bar fight in Buckley

GIBSON CITY — The cause of death for a man apparently involved in a bar fight late Sunday night in Buckley remains undetermined, but blunt force trauma has been ruled out, the Ford County coroner said Tuesday.

Daniel Connolly, 25, of Lyons was pronounced dead upon arrival at 12:31 a.m. Monday at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City, Coroner Doug Wallace said. Police say he was one of several people injured during a brawl at the Dutchmaster Bar at 114 S. Railroad Ave. in Buckley.

“We didn’t find any traumatic injuries on him,” Wallace told The Pantagraph.

"We will wait on the toxicology and histology results, which could take three to four weeks," he said.

Iroquois County sheriff’s deputies and Illinois State Police responded to a report of a fight in progress at the bar, police said.

At least four victims were transported to area hospitals by paramedics from the Buckley Ambulance Service and Iroquois Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, but the extent of other injuries was not known.

There had been no arrests as of Tuesday afternoon.

The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, state police, the Buckley Police Department and the Ford County coroner’s office.

Buckley is about 12 miles north of Paxton.
