Lincoln man arrested in shooting

LINCOLN -- A 28-year-old Lincoln man has been arrested in connection with the Jan. 22 shooting of a man in the 600 block of N. Jefferson St.

Lincoln Police Chief Ken Greenslate said the man was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Lincoln Police Department on charges of armed violence, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon.

The Pantagraph does not name suspects until they are formally charged.

The victim did not suffer life-threatening wounds and was released from a Springfield hospital after treatment of his wounds. Greenslate said the victim was shot in the right side of his chest. The bullet exited his body under his armpit and pierced the inners side of his arm near the bicep. He was taken to Abraham Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln and then transferred to a Springfield hospital.
