Local group collects phones for missions
BLOOMINGTON - Integrity Ministries, a non-profit organization that works with Christian outreach projects throughout the world, is collecting cell phones as a way to raise money to fund missions projects.
The public can donate cell phones at 807 S. Summit St., Bloomington. Community members also can donate electrical appliances, supplies for the needy or make financial contributions.
Morton promotes officer to sergeant
MORTON - Police officer Jason R. Miller has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Miller is a 10-year veteran of the Morton Police Department. He will serve as the swing shift patrol supervisor.
He has been recognized three times by the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists for his DUI enforcement efforts and has received three life-saving awards from the Morton Police Department.
He is a graduate of Eureka High School and attended the University of Illinois.
N-scale train layout planned at museum
NORMAL - N-Trak of Bloomington-Normal, a branch of the N-Trak Modular Railroading Society Inc., is sponsoring a "Fun Runnin' Trains" exhibition Jan. 14 and 15 at the Children's Discovery Museum, 101 E. Beaufort St.
The N-scale model train layouts will be on the second floor of the museum. The exhibition will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 14 and 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 15.
Admission is $4; children younger than 2 are free.
