Crestwicke Country Club, Bloomington
Sometimes first year events take a while to grow. And then there are events that come out swinging the very first time at bat. The Clara Hopkins Golf Outing falls in the latter category. With 108 golfers, this event raised more than its goal of $7,000 (final revenue tally is not yet available).
For organizers Ethan and Jayme Hopkins, the golf outing is personal, as daughter Clara was born with a congenital heart defect and required lifesaving open heart surgeries at OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois when she was only 5 days old. All proceeds will be donated to the Congential Heart Center at the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
“We are overwhelmed in a good way with all the support from our family and friends and the community,” explained Ethan. “Everyone was so generous and we have exceeded our original fundraising goal. We plan for this to be an annual event, one that eventually Clara can run when she is older.”
