BLOOMINGTON - The lights were on and the door's unlocked at Boo Boo's Dawghouse Monday, but the popular downtown Bloomington eatery may not open for a few more weeks.
A separate location in uptown Normal, meanwhile, remains closed for remodeling, and a timeline for its reopening remains unknown, said owner Todd Maynor.
In downtown Bloomington, though, the restaurant is nearly ready. Paper covering the windows has been removed and new equipment installed.
An employee working at the restaurant said it could reopen next week, but Maynor said that's unlikely. He said it could open within the next few weeks.
"We're trying to hire a crew," he said. "I'm not giving an exact time until I have an exact time."
The restaurant closed in April, and the former operator filed for bankruptcy a month later.
Maynor, who owns both the downtown Bloomington and uptown Normal locations, also has a third Boo Boo's on GE Road in Bloomington. That restaurant remains open.
