5 years ago (2004): Two teams equaled the record low score of 12-under 60 in the Bloomington-Normal Two-Man Best Position Tournament at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course. Rick Percy and Jeff Niepagen eventually won a scorecard playoff from David Marquardt and Ryan Meier for medalist honors.
15 years ago (1994): Bloomington High School graduate Corey Anders scored nine of the Class AA South's first 22 points as his team sailed to a 120-96 victory over the North in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game at Peoria. Anders finished with 11 points.
25 years ago (1984): Former Illinois State basketball All-American Doug Collins, an assistant coach at Arizona State the last two years, resigned that position to accept a broadcasting job with CBS-TV. Collins will handle both college and professional broadcasts.
50 years ago (1959): Co-medalist Ann Wienman crushed four-time champion Naomi Bonnett with near-perfect golf to join Ruth Mentzer in the finals of the Women's City Tournament at Highland Park. Mrs. Wienman was just two over par for 15 holes.
