YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Illinois State recruit Tim Glover of Normal won his third consecutive young men's javelin title in the USATF Youth Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Ypsilanti, Mich., with a throw of 194 feet, 9 inches.
Glover, a University High School graduate, came into the meet as the top seed with a season best of 206-3. He defeated the runner-up by almost 24 feet.
"Three in a row is something," Glover said. "I tried to treat it like a regular meet."
A 15 mph headwind kept Glover from reaching his season best. He won despite aggravating a back injury.
"I was consistently above 185," said Glover, who took all six throws despite the injury.
