NORMAL - Michael W. Ludwig, 59, Normal, passed away Wednesday (July 8, 2009) in Australia.

His service is pending at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Cremation rites will be accorded after the funeral. Memorials may be made to Central Illinois Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

He was born Jan. 21, 1950, in Rochelle, the son of James and Darlene Tilton Ludwig.

Surviving are three daughters, Dawn (Karl) Muth, Farmer City; Kari (Grant) Holloway, Chatham; and Ashley Ludwig, St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, Andrew, Spencer and Wesley Ludwig, all of Bloomington; two grandsons, Tyler Ludwig and Brady Muth, both of Farmer City; two brothers, Dave (Linda) Ludwig, Oregon, Ill., and Dale (Lois) Ludwig, Gilbertsville, Ky.; one sister, Kelli (Tyler) Cotey, Leaf River; his mother, Darlene Ludwig, Gilbertsville, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews. Mike also leaves behind his beloved dog and best friend, Sydney.

He was preceded in death by his father, James U. Ludwig.

Michael worked as a technician for Xerox for 30 years, from which he retired. After his retirement he worked part time as a bus driver for Unit 5. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of scuba diving in Australia at the Great Barrier Reef. He enjoyed woodworking and playing poker with friends. Mike cherished his time with his children and family, who will greatly miss him.
