100 years ago

March 26, 1908: A second local man has mysteriously disappeared. First it was Deputy John Ryan. Now Harry Chuse, 47, hasn't been seen for a week. Chuse left for work at the C&A shops, but never showed up. He is the son of M.X. Chuse, a former Bloomington fire chief.

75 years ago

March 26, 1933: The Wabash Telephone Company has added four new trunk lines between Bloomington and Normal, bringing the total to 44. Calls between the Twin Cities average 6,000 per day. During peak times they can amount to 800 to 1,000 per hour.

50 years ago

March 26, 1958: Five members of the Gerald Lutz family, 1102 South Madison St., were injured in an accident near Litchfield. None of the injuries is serious, but a St. Louis man in the other car was killed. Mr. Lutz operates Lutz's Market, 1409 S. Main St.

25 years ago

March 26, 1983: Health officers are urging Bloomington residents to be immunized against measles. Outbreaks have already been reported in Chicago and at Indiana University. There is no such outbreak here yet, and only two cases reported since July 1, 1981.
