URBANA - The lawsuits against former Unit 5 teacher Jon White and school officials in Urbana and Normal continued to stack up Wednesday with the filing of a fifth civil action in Urbana.

The lawsuit that identifies student Jane Doe-4 and her parents as Julie Doe-4 and John Doe-4 accuses school officials of failing to report White's sexual abuse of students and protect them from such activity.

White is serving a 60-year prison term for sexually abusing eight students at Urbana's Thomas Paine Elementary School and two students at Colene Hoose Elementary School in Normal.

White left Hoose in 2005 after school administrators received complaints that he followed a female student around the building.

The newest lawsuit names three former and three current Urbana school employees. The defendants and the district are accused of acting with "indifference to known teacher-on-student sexual harassment."

Lawyer Thomas Bruno filed the lawsuit, which seeks more than $50,000 in damages.

Last month, parents of the two Hoose students who were in White's first-grade class during the 2003-04 school year filed a similar lawsuit in McLean County.

Parents who testified at White's sentencing in April expressed outrage that Unit 5 sent White out of the district with a letter of recommendation. He later went to work at the Urbana school, where he was arrested in 2007 and charged with molesting students in his classroom.
