TREMONT - A Mackinaw couple died Monday morning in traffic crash on Illinois 9 and Ropp Road east of Tremont, said Tazewell County Coroner Dennis Conover in a statement.
Dead at the scene at 10:43 a.m. was Harold M. Cotter, 83, and his wife, Inez Cotter, 79. A vehicle driven by Harold Cotter lost control on the snow and ice and hit a westbound vehicle broadside.
The couple was extricated by members of the Tremont fire and rescue squad.
The driver of the other vehicle, Kelly Burmaster, 37, of Mackinaw, and a child, no name available, were taken to Pekin Memorial Hospital, said Tazewell County sheriff's police.
A hospital spokeswoman said no condition was available. Burmaster was driving an SUV and the Mackinaw couple was in a car, police said.
