Heyworth museum sets special hours
HEYWORTH - The Simpkins War Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 24-28.
The museum, at 605 E. Cole St., is the largest privately owned military collection in Central Illinois.
On permanent display are items from the Civil War up to Desert Storm, the oldest U.S. flag on display in McLean County, a large reference library and women's military memorabilia.
Regular hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sundays from September through May. Call (309) 473-3989.
Soil, water district offers trees, shrubs
CLINTON - DeWitt County Soil & Water Conservation District is selling trees and shrubs in bare root and potted one-gallon sizes. Deadline to order is March 28.
Trees and shrubs can be picked up April 11, with a postcard sent to confirm date and place of pick-up. Payment must be sent with order. Order forms are available at the USDA Service in Clinton or call (217) 935-6504, Ext. 3, to have one mailed.
Olympia awards bids for asbestos, floors
STANFORD - The final two contracts for the Olympia School District renovations have been awarded.
Central Illinois Flooring's bid for flooring was accepted at $152,942. Champion Environmental Services will remove asbestos for $109,000.
The flooring work won't take place until summer. Officials hope the removal of asbestos will start before the end of the school year.
