Group of juveniles attack 13-year-old boy in Normal

NORMAL - Eight to nine people, most or all of them juveniles, attacked a 13-year-old boy from Normal at about 9:30 pm. Friday, a Normal police report said.

The attack occurred in the 700 block of South Orlando Avenue. The assailants emerged from a building in the 700 block of South Golf Crest Road, the report said. The victim told police he was acquainted with three of the assailants, the report said.

A 16-year-old male from Bloomington, who was later arrested on preliminary charges of robbery, punched the victim in the mouth. Another suspect punched the victim in the back of the head. After the victim lay on the ground, several of the assailants kicked him in the head and back 10 to 20 times.

The arrestee then took his wallet. The wallet is valued at $10 and contained $90 in cash, the report said.

The victim was transported to BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, where he was treated and released.

The victim told police that the arrestee had said, "I know you told on me about the camera," before punching him.
