100 years ago
Nov. 18, 1908: Former Bloomington artist Richard "Dick" Wood died in St. Louis at the age of 38. He was a prolific illustrator for the Sunday Eye, the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and later the Republic. His brother John still lives here.
75 years ago
Nov. 18, 1933: A jury of twelve men has been seated to hear the trial of Asher Earl Bentley, charged with the March 1 murder of Aldine Younger in Livingston County. The case is drawing extra scrutiny because the defendant is the son of a former Pontiac mayor.
50 years ago
Nov. 18, 1958: The Illinois Agriculture Association assured its move to Bloomington by a vote of its governing body. A news photo shows the IAA's 50-acre tract of land "northeast of Bloomington." (It's the same site IAA occupies today, now well inside the city.)
25 years ago
Nov. 18, 1983: 22 workers got sick on fumes at the Eureka Williams plant, 1201 East Bell Street. Most of those stricken were women. Some of the 22 were hospitalized overnight. The fumes were traced to a naphtha-based sealant.
