Prescription drop-off box at police offices
PONTIAC - If you need to dispose safely of prescription, a secure drop-box is in the lobby at Illinois State Police headquarters, 800 Old Airport Road.
State police and students and staff at Pontiac Township High School teamed up to provide a safe place for prescription drug disposal.
In the past year, students and staff helped establish the Prescription Pill and Drug Disposal Program, which focuses on a cleaner environment by providing people with a safe place to discard old medicines.
Vital record change to help families
SPRINGFIELD - The Division of Vital Records is starting an Electronic Death Registration System that will allow physicians, coroners, medical examiners and funeral directors to compile death information that can be sent to local registrars to create a death certificate.
The system, to take effect later this year, allows Illinois to create death certificates more efficiently and reliably on a standardized form.
High school board approves energy pact
PONTIAC - Pontiac Township High School District 90 school board has approved a letter of intent to contract an energy services agreement with Ameresco Inc.
Superintendent Leo Johnson said the district will work with the contractor for possible projects, but there is no commitment to any project with any amount of money set.
Vendors sought for Route 66 festival
CHENOA - Vendors are sought for the third annual Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Festival May 2-3.
Chenoa is hosting a stop along the 90-mile event. Crafts, antiques, food, or other items are welcome.
Booth space is free for Chenoa residents and is $10 for others. Call (815) 945-5163.
