BLOOMINGTON -- Illinois Wesleyan University's Evan Kasprzak has danced his way into the top six contestants of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance."

The music-theater major who favors Broadway-style choreography and admires Gene Kelly survived Thursday's elimination round to advance with only two weeks left to the finals.

Kasprzak, 21, who hails from West Bloomfield, Mich., completed his junior year at IWU and will be taking off at least the fall semester before returning to the Twin Cities to complete his senior year. He is pursuing a bachelor of fine arts degree at the Bloomington campus.

As one of the show's top 10 dancers, he will be part of its national fall tour. The tour's only downstate stopover will be Oct. 4 at the University of Illinois Assembly Hall in Champaign.

Kasprzak was safe after Wednesday night's performances, so he was not among the four contestants up for elimination on the next night's show.

Janette Manrara and Jason Glover were eliminated Thursday. That left Kasprzak, Ade Obayomi, Brandon Bryant among the men and Jeanine Mason, Kayla Radomski and Melissa Sandvig among the women.

The show airs from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursdays on Fox.
