Bird watching: Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for a University of Illinois concert featuring Chicago indie rocker Andrew Bird. The show is set for 8 p.m. Dec. 8 in Foellinger Auditorium on the campus' Champaign side. Seats are $25, and can be reserved at 309-333-5000. Bird is as famous for his musical eclecticism as his ability to rock it. A classical upbringing trained him on the violin, with side trips into (among others) mandolin, guitar and that definite rock rarity -- the glockenspiel. Bird is also known for his three-album collaboration with the band Squirrel Nut Zippers. So take your pick.
