BLOOMINGTON - Another classic rock-era group will bring the '70s and '80s back to the stage of Bloomington's U.S. Cellular Coliseum this spring.

Performing at 7:30 p.m. April 2 will be the Doobie Brothers, the Southern Californian band that has undergone numerous metamorphoses over its nearly 40-year run.

Tickets are priced at $42.50 and $55, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 13, via the Coliseum box office and area Ticketmaster locations.

Founding band members still on board are guitarists and vocalists Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons.

Drummer Michael Hossack, who joined the group in 1971, and singer-guitarist John McFee, who came on board in 1979, are also a part of the current lineup.

Newer members are bass player Skylark, who joined the band in 1995; keyboardist Guy Allison, on board since 1996; saxophonist Marc Russo, since 1998.

The newest Doobie Brother on the block is percussionist Ed Toth, who began performing with the group around three years ago.

Michael McDonald, whose signature lead vocals were a part of the band from 1975 through the '80s, is not a part of the current tour's lineup, though he still performs occasional guest stints with the Doobies.

Over the band's 40-year run, 27 singles have been charted, with 16 going Top 40, including "Listen to the Music," "Jesus Is Just Alright," "China Grove," "Black Water" and "What a Fool Believes."

Eleven Doobie Brothers albums have gone multi-platinum and sold 50 million copies world-wide.
