Public Safety for Oct. 6: Police, fire, rescueVehicle burglary — A car was burglarized on the 1500 block of North Main Street between 2 p.m. Sept. 22 and 9 a.m. Sept. 23, a Bloomington police report said. A CD player was stolen. Vehicle burglary — A vehicle was burglarized Friday at the intersection of Washington Street and Colton Avenue, a Bloomington police report said. A cell phone, wallet, check book, cash, three credit cards and three identification cards were stolen. In CourtMarijuana — A man from Normal was charged with manufacturing and delivering 10 to 30 grams of marijuana, possession of 10 to 30 grams of marijuana, resisting arrest, and two counts of obstruction of justice. Jovontay Walker, 23, of the 900 block of North Linden Street remains in custody in lieu of posting $300. Court documents said a Normal police officer approached him Oct. 4, smelling the odor of burnt marijuana in his area. Walker tried to pull away from the officer when he grabbed his arm, and he jostled plastic bags out of his backpack against the officer’s commands. The items in the plastic bags tested positive as marijuana. Burglary — A Bloomington man was charged with residential burglary. Toby Bernal, of the 13600 block of Oak Hill Street, remains in custody in lieu of posting $2,500. Court documents said Bernal admitted to burglarizing an apartment and stealing a DVD player and TV. The DVD player was pawned by a woman acquainted with Bernal, and the TV was found in the closet of another woman acquainted with him, court document said. Harassment — A Normal man was charged with telephone harassment. Scott Olson, 23, of Norwood Avenue remains in custody in lieu of posting $1,000. Court documents said a woman testified that Olson called her Oct. 1 and told her several times that he was going to kill her. Olson admitted to calling the alleged victim Oct. 1, and her cell phone confirmed the incoming call on that date. Theft — A DeWitt man is accused of taking brake drums valued at more than $150 from JMH Trucking Inc., Bloomington. Daniel Wilson, 34, was jailed in lieu of posting $500 on charges of theft over $150 in connection with the June 5 offense. Identity theft — A Bloomington woman accused of identity theft over $300 was jailed in lieu of posting $200. Carrie Bray, 40, of the 1300 block of Morrissey Drive, is accused of using another person’s identity to obtain utility and telephone services. The alleged theft took place between June 7 and July 4, according to the charges. |
