WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A teenager has admitted in a New York court that he shot and killed a security guard who confronted egg-throwing youths on Halloween.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said 19-year-old Nyanda Charley pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder.
The victim, 52-year-old Neville Webb, was working at an apartment building in Mount Vernon last Oct. 31. When the youths started pelting cars with eggs, Webb tried to chase them away. Charley then crept up behind him and shot him.
Charley faces up to life in prison at sentencing in December.
Webb was a prison guard in Jamaica before coming to the United States in 2005. His family says his organs were donated to nine people.
