Matt Hill led the way with 16 points as Pontiac defeated Mahomet-Seymour 58-47 in the Corn Belt Conference basketball opener for both teams Friday night at Pontiac. | Box scores, schedules, results Sam Mackinson added 10 points for the Indians (3-2). Luke Radliff scored 14 points, while teammate Keith McNew added 13 points to pace Mahomet-Seymour (1-4). Other games Eureka 57, Prairie Central 40: The Hornets’ Jordan Prosser exploded for 24 points against Prairie Central in a Corn Belt Conference opener at Fairbury. Eureka took a 49-27 lead into the third quarter and coasted to the win. Darin Burns added nine points for Eureka. Matt Schmitt scored 13 points for the Hawks. Lincoln 49, Taylorville 35: Lincoln hit nine 3-pointers while holding host Taylorville to 13 second-half points as the Railsplitters posted a Central State Eight Conference victory. Jacob Harnacke and Louie Schonauer scored 10 points each to lead Lincoln, which used a 16-6 run in the fourth quarter to put away the Tornadoes. Josh Beyers led Taylorville with a game-high 17 points. Roanoke-Benson 64, Ottawa Marquette 35: Roanoke-Benson matched Ottawa Maruqette’s game total of 35 points at halftime on the way to nearly doubling up the Crusaders in a Tri-County Conference opener at Roanoke. Sam Durley scored a game-high 19 points for the Rockets (2-3). Teammate Micah Fehr added 14 points. Seneca 62, Dwight 39: The Trojans fell to Seneca in an Interstate Eight Conference game at Seneca. Qendrim Kongjeli led the Trojans, who scored only two points in the first quarter, with 11 points. Iroquois West 44, CPCI 43: Neil Hollingsworth hit a 15-footer with 12 seconds left to lift the Raiders in a Sangamon Valley Conference game at Cissna Park. Hollingsworth finished with a team-high 12 points. Devon Kuhn scored 21 points for CPCI. Teammate Quinn Steffen added 10. PBL 74, Tri-Point 65: Kendall Cox scored 27 points to rally PBL past Tri-Point in a Sangamon Valley Conference game at Cullom. Tri-Point led 31-25 at halftime 31-25, but could not hold on despite getting 14 points each from Chip Block and Nick Wallrich. Thomas Rubarts added 17 points for PBL as the Panthers outscored the Chargers 26-17 in the third quarter to take the lead. Woodland 57, Lowpoint-Washburn 51: Brian Council’s double-double sparked a 26-14 fourth-quarter run to rally undefeated Woodland past Lowpoint-Washburn in a Tri-County Conference opener at South Streator. Council scored a game-high 22 points, hauled down 10 rebounds, recorded seven steals and handed out six assists as the Warriors (6-0) came back from a 22-11 halftime deficit. Sophomore Jimmy Kling added 12 points while Jake Reynero chipped in 10 for Woodland. Freshman Tyler Ledbetter led Lowpoint-Washburn (4-2) with 20 points. Streator 67, LaSalle-Peru 51: Jake Strabala led four players in double figures as host Streator cruised to a North Central Conference win over LaSalle-Peru. Strabala scored a game-high 19 points for the Bulldogs who raced out to a 21-11 first quarter lead. Connor Armstrong and Kyle Erschen added 13 points each while Dexter Washington hit three 3-pointers en route to 11 points. Streator nailed eight 3-pointers for the contest. Hartsburg-Emden 72, Clinton 60: The twin tandem of Dustin and Dakin Bolen combined for 35 points and 26 rebounds to power Hartsburg-Emden past host Clinton in nonconference play. Dustin scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds while Dakin added 13 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists as the Stags (4-1) broke open a close game with a 22-15 third quarter run. Hartem also got 17 points from Justin Folkman and 15 from Brandon Duffey. Clinton (3-3) was led by Josh Barr with 20 points and nine rebounds while Kyle Welch added 17 points for the Maroons. Pleasant Plains 61, Mount Pulaski 52: The Cardinals led 21-11 after the first quarter and Mount Pulaski was never able to recover in a Sangamo Conference game at Pleasant Plains. Paul Foley scored 20 points to lead Mount Pulaski. Logan Harris’ game-high 22 points paced Pleasant Plains.
