Junior guard Bradley Ghere was named the tournament MVP after scoring a game-high 22 points to lead the Ridgeview High School boys basketball team past Beecher 69-30 Friday night in the championship game of the Dwight Thanksgiving Tourney. | Box scores, schedules, stats Ridgeview never looked back after racing to a 28-7 lead in the opening quarter. Nathan Boyd added nine points and Mitch Roth had eight for the Mustangs, who canned 10 three-point field goals. Casey Heimer also was selected to the all-tournament squad. Dwight 48, Wilmington 47: Qenorim Kongjeli, an all-tournament selection, netted a team-high 17 points and Dwight (2-1) rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to edge Wilmington in other tourney action. Danny Thompson, who was also an all-tournament pick, added eight points for the Trojans, who trailed 24-16 at halftime. At Ottawa Pontiac 71, Sullivan 56: Junior Matt Hunter poured in a game-high 31 points, including the first nine of the game for Pontiac, as the Indians improved to 2-1 with a victory over Chicago Sullivan at the Ottawa Tournament. Despite Hunter’s early scoring binge, Pontiac trailed 13-10 after the opening period. The Indians took command with a 26-point second quarter to grab a 36-26 halftime advantage. Joey Kennedy added 14 points for the Indians while Cody Hillier had a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. At Stanford Heyworth 66, Roanoke-Benson 64: Heyworth’s (1-0) Nick Kronmiller scored 18 points, including three in overtime to beat Roanoke-Benson (0-1) in the opening round of the Stanford tournament. Randall Koehler scored a game-high 19 points for Roanoke-Benson, and teammate Sam Durley added 18. Olympia 64, LeRoy 29: Olympia’s (1-0) Jordan Gaither and Matt Frahm scored 16 points apiece to beat LeRoy (0-1) in another first-round game. Mark Brent scored 19 points for LeRoy. At Pekin Byron 43, Eureka 34: Despite a game-high 22 points from junior center Jordan Prosser, Eureka fell in its season opener in action at the Tournament of Champions. Jim Tharp grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for the Hornets, who trailed 21-13 at halftime and 28-26 after three quarters. Briarcrest Christian 46, Eureka 44: Prosser and Jerod Eigsti led Eureka with 15 points each but the Hornets dropped its second game of the day with a loss to Briarcrest Christian Academy of Memphis, Tenn. Jim Tharp had 10 points for the Hornets (0-2), who held a slim 37-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter. At South Streator Woodland 73, DePue 51: Jake Reynero scored 25 points for Woodland (2-0) and teammate Brian Council had 14 to beat DePue in the South Streator Tournament. At Chillicothe Tremont 78, Midland 57: Tremont’s Jeremy Pflederer scored a game-high 27 points in an IVC tournament win over Midland. Todd Cantrell had 15 points and Jordan Pflederer added 10 for Tremont (1-0). At Hoopeston Donovan 72, Iroquois West 44: Sixteen turnovers and a hot-shooting Donovan team added up to Iroquois West’s first loss of the season in action at the Hoopeston tourney. Angel Sanchez led Iroquois West (2-1) with 11 points. Aaron Thomas added nine points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Raiders. At Athens Delavan 65, Beardstown 28: Brothers Jordan Zimmer (23) and Brady Zimmer (18) combined for 51 points for Delavan (2-0) in a win over Beardstown at the Athens tournament. Hartsburg-Emden 65, Illini Central 53: Senior forward Dakin Bolen poured in a game-high 31 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, as Hartsburg-Emden pulled away in another game. Brandon Duffey added 16 points for the Stags, who used a 25-9 blitz in the final period to secure the win. Danny Harman paced Illini Central with 15 points. Cole Brownfield had 11 for the Cougars. At Seneca Hinckley-Big Rock 57, Flanagan 56: Flanagan’s Alex Detweiler scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to complete a comeback as the Falcons (0-2) fell to Hinckle-Big Rock at the Seneca tournament. Seneca 59, Prairie Central 33: Phillip Johnson and Mitchell McDonald led Prairie Central (2-1) with eight points apiece in a loss to the hosts (3-0). At Peoria Heights Peoria Heights 48, Dee-Mack 36: Senior forward Ben Vetter scored 11 of his team-high 15 points in the second half but it wasn’t enough as Deer Creek-Mackinaw fell to the host school at the Peoria Heights tourney.
