In CourtDrugs — A 32-year-old man from Normal is accused of possessing and intending to sell cocaine while close to a junior high school Thursday. Larry L. Buchanan, of the 400 block of South Oak Street, was jailed Friday in lieu of posting $5,000 on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver the drug within 1,000 feet of a school and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. A court file said he was within 1,000 feet of Chiddix Junior High School, 300 S. Walnut St., Normal. A 19-year-old listed in a court file as living at the same address as Buchanan and at an address in Burr Ridge was in jail Friday on charges he twice sold marijuana to a police source. Mark A. Gangelosi was held in lieu of posting $300 on two charges of unlawful delivery of marijuana. Cocaine — A 25-year-old Bloomington woman is accused of possessing and selling cocaine. Linda Moore, of the 800 block of North Roosevelt Avenue, was jailed Friday in lieu of posting $10,000 on a charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and in lieu of $2,000 on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She is accused of selling cocaine to a police source Oct. 9 in Bloomington and possessing cocaine Friday in Bloomington. Burglary — A 23-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl are accused of illegally entering a woman’s home to commit a theft or another felony Tuesday. Nathan A. Winters was jailed in lieu of posting $1,000 and Elizabeth A. Stevens was jailed in lieu of posting $500 on one count each of residential burglary. A court file listed Winters’ address in the 400 block of Valley View Circle and the 400 block of Fox Hill Circle, both in Bloomington. Stevens’ address is listed in the 300 block of Carriage Hills Road, Normal. Police, fire, rescueGuns reported stolen from Normal home NORMAL — Two handguns were stolen from a residence in the 400 of North Cottage Avenue, according to a report filed Thursday. One was a 360 Air Lite Smith and Wesson, and the other a Colt Mark IV 350 with a total value of $800, a police official said. The resident said he noticed one of the guns missing “a few days ago,” and the other one missing on Thursday, at which time he reported the thefts, the official said. Burglary — An iPod and an FM transmitter, with a total value of $390, were taken from a vehicle at the Junction Place Apartments garage in the 800 block of West Hovey Avenue. The theft took place sometime between 3 a.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a Normal police department official said. Entry to the vehicle was gained by prying open a door, which was damaged, the official said. Burglary — A resident of the 700 block of Golfcrest Road in Normal reported two Rolex watches, worth $2,000 each, and a diamond pendant worth $10,000 were stolen from his residence sometime between Nov. 9 and Friday while he was away, a police official said. Burglaries — A rash of vehicle burglaries took place in the University High School student parking lot at Main and Gregory Streets between about 7:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, an Illinois State University police report said. An in-dash stereo and CD player, as well as some CDs and tapes, valued at $500, were taken from a Chrysler Sebring. Damage to the dash of the car was estimated at $500. An Insignia MP3 player valued at $140 was taken from a 1997 Honda Civic. A rear window was broken to gain entry. Cash totaling $50, a wallet and purse valued at $150, a Visa charge card, Social Security card and a JVC in-dash CD player were stolen from a 1995 Toyota Camry. Damage to the dash and wiring of the car was placed at $200. Battery — A 22-year-old male reported being attacked in the 700 block of Kingsley Street about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, a Normal police official said. The man received a laceration on his head but was unable to provide a description of the assailant, the official said. He was treated at BroMenn Regional Medical Center. |
