Area volleyball: Lexington downs Flanagan
Jessica Kraft and Jenna Bean combined for sixteen service points to guide Lexington (14-3) past host Flanagan (8-13, 0-4). Kraft tallied 20 assists. Maggie Johansen provided nine kills while teammate Mandy Feit chipped in 20 digs for Lexington. Karie Timmerman led Flanagan with 14 kills. Anna Delheimer added nine service points and eight assists. Pontiac triumphs Loni Mackinson had eight service points and 14 assists to send Pontiac to a 25-21, 25-22 Corn Belt win over host Rantoul. Ashley Timmerman recorded seven kills and Kelsey Fairfield contributed six for the Indians. Katie Legner added 10 digs, while Sydney Benning and Timmerman had two blocks apiece. Fisher beats GCMS Jordan Hobbs had a team-high 10 assists and Tiffany Wallick added five kills as Fisher (6-4, 2-2) defeated GCMS, 25-23, 25-20 in HOIC action at Gibson City. Mel McDevitt led GCMS with seven digs and five service points. Tri-Valley routs Ridgeview Tri-Valley, led by Lauren Reiners with nine kills and nine digs, swept past Ridgeview, 25-14, 25-7 in an HOIC match at Colfax. Catherine Ludwig chipped in 20 assists for the Vikings (10-3, 5-0). Haleigh Copley paced Ridgeview (4-11, 0-4) with eight digs. Tremont wins in three Janelle Barrow registered 24 assists and Whitney Volk added 11 blocks as Tremont (9-8, 4-1) rallied past Fieldcrest (8-5, 1-3) in three sets, 26-28, 25-13, 25-16 in a Heart of Illinois Conference match at Tremont. Kaylie Endress added 10 kills and eight digs for the Turks. Kayla Conroy paced Fieldcrest with 14 assists and nine service points. Dee-Mack nips Blue Ridge Haley Thurmond’s team-high eight kills and Kate Poorbaugh’s 17 assists guided Deer Creek-Mackinaw past Blue Ridge, 25-21, 25-20 at Farmer City. Danielle Thompson had seven assists, five service points and two blocks for Blue Ridge. Dwight defeats Manteno Amie Hogan recorded 24 assists while Kolby Hoffman and Carly Perschnick added 10 kills apiece as Dwight (11-5, 3-2) downed Manteno, 25-17, 31-29 in an Interstate Eight Conference match at Dwight. EPG beats LeRoy Mattie Fairchild had 12 assists and Tamara Waugh added 11 service points as El Paso-Gridley (11-3, 4-0) posted a 25-14, 25-18 win over LeRoy in HOIC play at LeRoy. Kirsti Clausen paced LeRoy (8-9, 0-4) with 14 assists while Jill Morgan had six kills. Mahomet outlasts Eureka Danielle Bunch and Lindsey Storm each finished with nine kills to lead Mahomet-Seymour to a 25-23, 25-22 Corn Belt road victory over Eureka. Mel Weimer added 30 assists, while Greta Goddard added 12 digs for the Bulldogs (14-3, 4-1). Courtney Martin led Eureka (3-8, 1-4) with eight digs and six assists. Illini Central falls Brooke Williams had six service points and Breanna Riggins had eight kills to lead host Rochester 25-27, 25-14, 25-12 past Illini Central. Kelsey Laugel collected 13 assists for the Rockets (12-4). Calvary Baptist loses Melanie Bouslog finished with 11 service points and six kills, but Calvary Baptist fell to Buckley Christ Lutheran, 25-27, 25-14, 19-25 in Normal. Jessica Taylor led Christ Lutheran (4-8, 3-1 in East Central Illinois Conference) with nine service points, while Mallory Quinn had 11 digs. Lincoln defeated Jamie McFadden and Hilary Hobler each finished with six kills, but it wasn’t enough in a 25-17, 25-12 loss to Sacred Heart-Griffin in Springfield.
