ok wrote on Jun 15, 2007 10:59 AM:

" ok, this is what I think is going on. The wild male Eagle exicted the female Eagle and she layed an egg. It wasn't fertilized by the male in her cage or the wild one. Seriously, if they haven't mated in 13 years or whatever time frame they have been together, it ain't gonna happen now. Or they wild male Eagle excited them and they did mate but since it was their first mating in years/ever...it didn't take. I know of birds that lay eggs but never hatch b/c they weren't fertilized. It happens all of the time. The zoo needs to get the egg and see what is going on b/c if it WAS fertilized that thing is rotten by now. I dont' think the birds will be traumitzed at all by it. They don't keep their young very long any way. Why the Robbins in my back yard have had their young and already had them flying off by now. "

" ok I have been watching the web cam since 5:15 am, not an eagle on the egg and in fact, neither of the eagles have been in the web cam view by 2 times since I started watching it...whats going on?? "

Letting Nature Take Its Course wrote on Jun 14, 2007 12:31 PM:

" The zoo officials have said they will "let nature take its course" and wait for the eagles to abandon the egg or push it out of the nest. Once that happens, then the zoo people will probably get the egg and crack it open to see what, if anything, is inside. Until then, they don't want to take any chances of messing with the egg, just in case. "

" if the egg doesnt hatch you should get her a good one that will....if not an exact eagle one close to it, she will still love it. if this egg isnt any good and it is taken away you will just depress her and her mate...think about it.... "

give it up already! wrote on Jun 13, 2007 9:53 AM:

" I say the egg is no good. It should of hatched by now. I think that the zoo should go get the egg and see if there is something in it. They can't hurt it. If there is maybe it is having a hard time breaking out of it's shell. I will be glad when this is over. I love animals but I am tired of hearing about it. "

Wondering wrote on Jun 13, 2007 8:19 AM:

" If the egg is not good. I wonder if the keepers could work on "training" our couple so that they could couple and have chicks for out comunity to watch with great pride as we have this egg and to release back to the wild with naming contests. They act like they would be great parents. "

rotten egg?? wrote on Jun 13, 2007 8:14 AM:

" I think it is time to pull the egg and very carefully xray it and if nothing shows then start to crack it open. this is way too long for this to be a good egg. "

" If you don't have anything better to say please do us all a favor and keep your comments to yourself. It's actually nice to read something different instead about the war in Iraq, murders, and all the other terrible things going on in the world today. We all need happy news once in awhile to read. The American Bald Eagle is our National Bird if don't want to read about what The Pantagraph has to report then don't read it. Why would you make a comment like that don't you have anything better to do with your time? To The Pantagraph thank you for keeping us informed of the wonderful event. I enjoy reading and viewing the web cam everyday. I truly hope we get to see a baby Bald Eagle. "

" Why they haven't had any more reports on the possible new arrival? It should have hatched by now. Are they afraid that someone might try to take or harm this one like the other egg disappeared? The parents seem to be acting differently the last few days. I can only see the webcam because I live in Florida. I hope its not for protection sake they have to keep mum on wether the baby has hatched. This is such an honor for Miller Park Zoo it would be nice if they could be shouting from the roof tops that they have a new addition. I hope all is well with those beautiful symbols of our American Freedom. "
