Roundup of track and field meets held April 24 involving area teams
GCMS boys win invitational
Lucas Pulley and Cody Gaesser were individual winners as Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley scored 101 points to win its own Falcon Invitational boys meet at Gibson City.
Pulley won the pole vault (12-0) and Gaesser took the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (44.71). St. Thomas More was second with 94 points and PBL (83) third in the 13-team meet.
Lexington’s Ryan Hanes won the 100 (11.34) and 200 (23.73). Brian Peterson of Fieldcrest also was a double winner, taking the 1,600 (4:45.71) and 3,200 (10:00.92).
Clinton girls win meet
Clinton scored 127 points to edge Monticello by eight points for the girls title in the Clinton Co-Ed Meet. El Paso-Gridley’s Robin Eastwood was a double winner in the 100 hurdles (17.67) and 300 hurdles (53.96).
Monticello won the boys meet with 128½ points. Area double winners were Blue Ridge’s Josh Lamb in the 100 (11.4) and 200 (23.49); and Clinton’s Drew Holl in the high jump (6-4) and long jump (20-6) and Steven Runyen in the shot put (44-½) and discus (124-4).
Mahomet wins Pontiac meet
Four relays victories and field event wins from Justin Sebens and Jason Seaman powered Mahomet-Seymour to the Pontiac Relays title.
The Bulldogs scored 138 points. Providence was second in the seven-team meet with 123 points.
Sebens captured the varsity high jump (6-3) and Seaman won the varsity shot put with a heave of 58-7, a school record and the No. 5 throw in Pantagraph area history. The Bulldogs were winners on the track in the varsity 3,200 and middle distance medley and the junior varsity 1,600 and medley.
